Accelerate the computer shutdown time on Windows XP

The first time after installing Windows XP, your computer does not require a long time to shutdown. Shutdown process will take quite a long time after you use Windows XP in a few days, maybe a week or a month after installation.
Shutdown process that takes a very long time is certainly very annoying. There is little trick with the registry change to shorten computer shutdown time.

1. Open registry editor.

Window + R

type “regedit” without quotes and press enter or click OK.

2. Take to this place

HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Control Panel -> Desktop

3. Right click on it and select modify

4. Change the value to 1000 and click OK

5. On the same place, select HungAppTimeout. Right click on it and select modify.

6. Change the value to 1000 and click OK.

7. Now got another place,

HKEY_USERS -> DEFAULT -> Control Panel -> Desktop

8. Select “WaitToKillAppTimeout” and modify it by change the value like as on above step.

9. And the last step, go to these

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> System -> CurrentControlSet -> Control

10. Select “WaitToKillServiceTimeout” and change the value to like as step above.

Now restart your computer.
Note,
please backup your registry before you do it. It done to prevent any unwanted missing happen to you. By backup registry you can easily restore the registry.
